RI Credit Unions Raise $100,000 for Special Olympics in 2019
The Credit Unions of Rhode Island's Social Responsibility Commitee extends a BIG THANKS to all of the credit unions, their members, and sponsors for the generous support given to the Association’s designated charity, the Special Olympics Rhode Island (SORI).
Through the year-long efforts, a total of $100,000 was donated, again making the Credit Unions of Rhode Island one of the largest corporate donors to Special Olympics Rhode Island. Total funds raised in twenty-two years is $1.22 Million! These funds ensure that many athletes have the opportunity to challenge themselves and enjoy the sense of achievement.
In the words of the founder of Special Olympics International, Mrs. Eunice Kennedy Shriver, "For great world athletes the contest may last only minutes. Then it is over and they have won or lost. But for Special Olympians, the contest can last a lifetime. The challenge begins each day. What they win by their courageous efforts is far greater than any game. They are winning life itself, and in doing so, they give to others a most precious prize...faith in the unlimited possibilities of the human spirit."
The Credit Unions of Rhode Island is proud of the efforts made by the credit union community as a whole. Together, as one organization, we have helped to inspire greatness among the athletes.
We look forward to your continued support in 2019-2020. Your participation and donations to this meaningful cause help to put smiles on the faces of athletes throughout the state.
