Make the Most of Summer: Free Up Cash With Skip-A-Pay!

Is This You?

Summer is in full swing. Kids are out of school until at least late August. The family wants to enjoy

the extra hours of daylight and nice weather. You’ve got your eye on local events, festivals and fairs, or maybe you’re craving a vacation.

Everything seems to pop off during summer!

But those pesky loan payments like to get in the way, don’t they? They’re eating up just enough of your monthly budget that vacation or summer outings stress you out.

Summer is meant to be enjoyed – and this is where Skip-A-Payment can come in.

How Can I Skip a Payment?

Skip-A-Payment, or Skip-A-Pay, is technically a form of loan payment deferral. For a small fee, it basically moves your loan payment for a given month and adds it to the end of your term.

You can skip a payment on your car loan (if you don’t have GAP Insurance) or any type of personal loan payment – but credit cards, lines of credit and real estate loan payments cannot be skipped. If you have more than one eligible loan, you may skip a payment on each of them for the same month.

You pay for the skip before your scheduled payment date. At Wave FCU, you must request your Skip-A-Payment two to five business days before your due date and pay a nominal $20 fee per loan skipped. Once you’re ready to skip your monthly loan payment, you can apply easily online!

Should I Skip My Loan Payment?

Taking advantage of a loan Skip-A-Payment can be extremely helpful for summer expenses (or holiday expenses, if it’s later in the year), but it’s not always your best option. Consider the pros and cons below:

Pros and Cons

If you choose to skip your loan payment, you may have to pause any automatic payments you have set up. But as long as your loan is in good standing, each loan can be skipped once per calendar year.
