RI Credit Unions Raise $95,000 for Special Olympics in 2020
The Credit Unions of Rhode Island's Social Responsibility Commitee extends a BIG THANKS to all of the credit unions, their members, and sponsors for the generous support given to the Association’s designated charity, the Special Olympics Rhode Island (SORI) in 2020.
The Credit Unions of Rhode Island recently presented a $95,000 donation during a “virtual” event to its charitable partner, Special Olympics Rhode Island, an organization that provides over 1,600 year-round sports training and athletic competition opportunities to over 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities as a means to achieve physical fitness, self-esteem and the life skills necessary to be productive, respected and contributing members of their communities. The amount raised marks a 23-year total of more than $1.3 million raised by the state’s credit unions, members of the Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA). The Credit Unions of Rhode Island are the 2nd largest corporate partner of Special Olympics Rhode Island.
